Royal Brackla Distillery

The distillery was established on the Cawdor Estate in the Scottish Highlands in 1812. Captain William Fraser was the man responsible. In the beginning he favored a peated malt for his spirit and he did it to great effect.

The early years were tough though, mainly due to the proliferation of ‘illicit distillers’ who paid no duty to the Excise man and thus had a competitive advantage in the surrounding area. Captain Fraser persevered and eventually found his main market to be in London, far from the moonshiners and tax evaders.

Greatness was bestowed upon them 21 years later in 1833 when they became the first Scotch distillery to receive the royal warrant and could henceforth describe their product as ‘The King’s Own Whisky’. They owe it all to King William IV – the original grantor of the royal warrant. Every monarch since has renewed it.

Is it whisky fit for a King? We certainly think so. Royal Brackla is distilled with the intention of being a light, bright and fruity malt. The length of the fermentation and the angle of the lyne arms are evidence of that. This is a vibrant, fresh and delicious Single Malt – perfect for watching the sunset.

Alexander Murray & Co is proud to present this 14 year old expression: bright, fruity and malty with grassy notes and a long sweet finish. Truly a whisky fit for Royalty.

The most vast of all the regions, spanning the best part of Scotland's mainland. The Highland region has no particular style, and so can't really be categorized. However some of the distilleries here are famous world-wide.
