Speyside Distillery
A bit of a late entry into the Speyside whisky producing region, finally build 30 years after initial planning in 1987, ‘The Speyside Distillery” commenced production. Its role seems to have been relatively subdued given its rather noisy neighbours.
A relatively rare find as a single malt; you may find a distillery bottling from here labelled as “Spey”. Much of the spirit produced here will find its way into blends. Furthermore it has also been utilised within multiple Asian blended whiskies. Note that these couldn’t be considered ‘Scotch’, so not only is Speyside distillery a rarity as a single malt, it’s rare enough as a Scotch whisky!
Style, you say? Fermentation period is long; distillation slow. The result is a light style. A whisky for a seasoned explorer.

Speyside single malts are single malt Scotch whiskies, distilled in Strathspey, the area around the River Spey in Moray and Badenoch and Strathspey, in northeastern Scotland. Although generalized, known as a region that produces delicate and fruity whisky, many styles are produced here. Almost half of Scotland's distilleries are situated here, on the banks of the United Kingdom's fastest flowing river.
